Privacy & Cookie Policy
This policy explains what personal data tourView ("we", "us") collects, why, and your rights over it. It covers the tourView website (tourview.app) and the tourView application. tourView is in a closed beta operated from the United Kingdom.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is the operator of tourView. For any privacy request or question, contact privacy@tourview.app.
2. What we collect and why
| Data | Why | Lawful basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Account details: email, display name, hashed password | To create and secure your account | Contract |
| Organisation & tour data you enter (itineraries, schedules, personnel, setlists, contacts) | To provide the service and sync it across your devices | Contract |
| Beta-access requests (email, optional name/message) | To manage the closed beta waitlist | Legitimate interest |
| Bug reports (subject, description, optional screenshot, app version) | To diagnose and fix issues | Legitimate interest |
| Basic technical logs (IP, timestamps, request metadata) | Security, abuse prevention, reliability | Legitimate interest |
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Third-party services
To provide certain features we send limited data to trusted providers. Where the app needs data from Google, requests are proxied through our server so that our keys — not yours — are used:
- Google Maps Platform (Places, Weather) — venue/hotel search, place details, photos and weather for coordinates you look up.
- Google Gemini — optional AI text generation you invoke.
- Google reCAPTCHA — protects the website's beta-access form from spam (sets cookies; see §5).
- SMTP2GO — delivers transactional email (password reset, invitations).
- Apple / Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with them, we verify the identity token they issue.
4. Where data is stored & transfers
Your account and tour data are stored on our server in the United Kingdom/EU. Some providers above may process data outside the UK/EEA; where they do, appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) apply.
5. Cookies
We keep cookies to a minimum:
| Cookie | Purpose | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Consent preference (stored in your browser's local storage) | Remembers that you accepted this notice | Essential |
| Google reCAPTCHA | Distinguishes humans from bots on the beta-access form | Loaded only after you accept |
The website does not use analytics or advertising cookies. reCAPTCHA is loaded only after you accept the cookie notice; if you decline, you can still browse the site but cannot submit the beta-access form. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
6. Retention
We keep your account and tour data while your account is active. Bug reports and access requests are kept while relevant to operating the beta and then deleted or anonymised. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed and retained records (e.g. a bug report kept for triage) are anonymised.
7. Your rights
Under UK/EU data-protection law you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and object to processing. In the app you can:
- Export your data (Settings → export, which returns everything we hold about you); and
- Delete your account (which erases your personal data).
You can also email privacy@tourview.app. You have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
8. Children
tourView is not directed at children under 16 and you must be 18 or older to use the beta.
9. Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
